Introducing the AF-P NIKKOR 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6E ED VR that is set to broaden the reach of your telephoto abilities. With a focal length range of 70 to 300 mm, this new FX-format compatible telephoto zoom lens is perfect for when you need to get up close with the action on the field or other distant subjects. It also boasts the agility to match its superior optical performance, so you can confidently capture fast-paced movement every time. Swiftly record crystal-clear images by making full use of its upgraded features such as a quiet, high-speed and highly accurate autofocus (AF) drive; effective Vibration Reduction (VR) function that delivers an effect equivalent to a shutter speed 4.5 stops faster1; and chromatic aberration that is effectively corrected with an Extra-Low Dispersion (ED) glass element. Bring your ambitions further with the revolutionary AF-P NIKKOR 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6E ED VR that effortlessly expands your photography range.
The AF-P NIKKOR 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6E ED VR telephoto zoom lens covers 70 to 300mm2 focal length, and is designed for superior resolving power at both maximum wide-angle (70mm) and telephoto (300mm), putting it amongst the top few in its class and giving you the ability to isolate certain aspects of your shot or compose the perfect image with minimal distraction to your subject. At close range, it delivers exceptional performance too, with a minimum focus distance of 1.2m and maximum reproduction ratio of 0.25x, allowing for brilliant magnification of your subject up close.
Deliver even more breathtaking photos with the new AF-P NIKKOR 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6E ED VR telephoto zoom lens. Featuring an ED glass element that corrects chromatic aberration effectively even at the periphery, it has the ability to produce images that are sharp, with colours that are more true-to-life, even in high-contrast situations. When paired with modern high-resolution cameras, it outpaces the competition with its excellent high-resolution imagery.
Rigorously tested for dust and drip-resistant performance, this lens is designed for a rugged reliability that you can count on. Movable parts and other sections are sealed to protect the interior of the lens against dust and water droplets, making it a versatile and effective lens in a wide range of environments. Comfort, too, is also a top priority in its structure, with its focus ring and zoom ring engineered for appropriate torque to ensure smooth operability of manual focusing and zooming. The AF-P NIKKOR 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6E ED VR is an all-rounder employing the latest technology that helps you push the boundaries of telephotography even further.
1 Based on CIPA standards. This value is achieved when attached to an FX-format digital SLR camera, with zoom set at the maximum telephoto position (300mm)
2 When attached to a DX-format D-SLR, the angle of view is equivalent to that of a 105-450 mm lens in 35mm format
1. Key Features
The AF-P NIKKOR 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6E ED VR is ideal for a wide range of D-SLR users who need an affordable telephoto zoom lens that achieves image quality, performance and portability in a well-balanced way.
* When attached to a DX-format D-SLR, the angle of view is equivalent to that of a 105-450 mm lens in FX/35mm format.
A stepping motor built into the lens contributes to quiet and fast focusing operation, which is also advantageous for movie recording. AF accuracy is further improved with the adoption of a direct drive system of focusing element groups.
Note: Because an AF-P lens incorporates a stepping motor, the number of compatible cameras is limited. Even for compatible cameras, firmware update may be required.
The latest optical design incorporating an ED glass element that effectively corrects chromatic aberration, ensures high-resolution images of subjects all the way to the periphery even at the maximum aperture throughout the entire zoom range.
Image blur caused by camera shake is effectively reduced by the Vibration Reduction function. The AF-P NIKKOR 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6E ED VR provides an effect equivalent to a shutter speed 4.5 stops* faster based on CIPA Standard, which is a measurement method of blur-correction effect common to most camera/lens manufacturers.
* When attached to an FX-format digital SLR camera, with zoom set at the maximum telephoto position.
SPORT mode, employed mainly for super-telephoto lenses, is adopted as an option of the VR function, and is especially effective when shooting scenes in which subjects are quickly and erratically moving, providing a stable viewfinder image during shooting, and thereby enabling the capture of images with the intended composition.
With the minimum focus distance of 1.2 m and the maximum reproduction ratio of 0.25x, you can approach significantly closer to capture the scene with a wide background and dynamically reproduced subjects.
The lens body is designed considering dust- and drip-resistant capabilities to support reliable shooting. While the focus ring and zoom ring that provide the appropriate torque realize smooth manual focus and zoom operation. These factors, combined with compact and light design for excellent agility, ensure comfortable telephoto shooting even handheld.
Even during high-speed continuous shooting, exposure is stably controlled with the adoption of an electromagnetic diaphragm mechanism.
